Drive One
TransportationTraffic Alert & Speed Camera Warning System
5 million drivers across 90+ countries
The Challenge
Needit Denmark needed companion mobile apps and a web platform for their Drive One hardware device — a traffic alert system that warns drivers about speed cameras and road hazards across Europe. The challenge was building real-time GPS-based alerting that worked reliably across 90+ countries with different speed limit regulations, camera types, and road networks, while maintaining low battery consumption for long drives.
- Real-time GPS alerting had to work across 90+ countries with different regulations
- Battery consumption needed to be minimal during multi-hour driving sessions
- Speed camera database required constant updates from multiple data partners
- Community-driven hazard reporting needed moderation and accuracy validation
Our Approach
Built native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) companion apps with real-time GPS-based alerting, community-driven hazard reporting, customisable notification settings, and route planning. Developed the web platform for device management and data aggregation from partners including the Danish Road Directorate. The apps sync with the Drive One hardware device via Bluetooth for enhanced alerting capabilities.
- Native Swift/Kotlin apps for optimal GPS performance and battery efficiency
- Real-time speed camera database with 104K+ entries updated from multiple data partners
- Community reporting system with verification and trust scoring
- Bluetooth pairing with Drive One hardware for combined alerts
- Multi-language support (English, Danish, German) with region-specific content

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Drive One handle speed camera data across 90+ countries?
The system aggregates data from multiple partners including the Danish Road Directorate, community reports, and third-party databases. Each country's data is normalised into a unified format, with region-specific speed limit rules applied for accurate alerting.
How long has Cropsly worked with Drive One?
Cropsly has been Drive One's technology partner for over 7 years, continuously maintaining and evolving the iOS and Android apps, web platform, and backend systems as the product expanded to new markets.
Does the app work without the Drive One hardware?
Yes, the mobile app functions independently with full GPS-based alerting. When paired with the Drive One hardware via Bluetooth, it provides enhanced alerting capabilities combining both device and app intelligence.
